The Settings section is where you configure everything about how your school appears and operates in Elimu Bora. From your school name and logo to staff role assignments and active modules, all system-wide configuration lives here. Go to Settings in the main navigation to access these options.

School details

School Details lets you update the core information about your school, including branding elements that appear across the dashboard, email notifications, and report cards.
1

Navigate to School Details

Go to Settings > School Details in the main navigation.
2

Update your school identity

Edit any of the following fields:
  • School Name — the name displayed across the platform and on official documents
  • Motto — your school’s motto, shown on report cards and email templates
  • Vision — your school’s vision statement
3

Update contact information

Fill in or update your school’s contact details:
  • Phone — school contact number
  • Email — school contact email address
  • Website — your school’s website URL
  • Address, County, City, and Town — your school’s physical location
4

Upload your logo

In the Branding section, click the logo upload area to upload your school crest or logo. The image is displayed on report cards and email notifications. Maximum file size is 2 MB.
5

Set your primary colour

Use the colour picker to select your school’s primary colour by entering a hex colour code or picking from the palette. Click Save Changes when done.
Your primary colour is applied across the entire Elimu Bora interface, including email templates sent to guardians and the header of all generated report cards. When you change the primary colour, the system automatically generates a full colour palette based on your selection — you don’t need to set individual shades manually.
You can also set your school’s KRA PIN in the School Details page. This appears on official documents and invoices where a tax identifier is required.

Roles and permissions

The Roles & Permissions page lets you assign roles to staff users so they have the right level of access to different parts of the system. Go to Settings > Roles & Permissions to manage assignments. The following roles are available in Elimu Bora:
RoleAccess level
Super AdminUnrestricted access to all features within your school
System AdministratorFull access, including user management and configuration
PrincipalSchool-wide access including report card publishing and approvals

HODHead of Department — manages their subject area

StaffNon-teaching staff access (admin, finance, library, etc.)

Assign roles to existing staff users directly from this page. A user can hold only one role at a time.

Module management

Modules control which features are active for your school. Go to Settings > Modules to see which modules are currently enabled.
The Modules page lists all available modules and shows whether each one is currently active or inactive. For modules included in your subscription plan, you can toggle them on or off using the switch next to each module. When a module is disabled, its menu items disappear from the navigation and the related features are no longer accessible to any users at your school.
Three modules are core to how Elimu Bora works and cannot be turned off:
  • Identity — user accounts and authentication
  • Curriculum — academic structure (grade levels, streams, subjects)
  • Academic Years — terms and academic calendar
These are always active regardless of your plan.
